New Releases: October 6th-12th, 2013

Disgaea D2 A Brighter Darkness (1)

From the return of Laharl in Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness to those perpetually pugnacious Lumbricina in Worms Revolution Extreme, this week’s roster of new releases bring back a number of cherished characters. For those who enjoying less sedentary experiences, titles such as Just Dance 2014 and Let’s Sing and Dance task gamers with prancing in time with on-screen protagonists. As for us, we’ll just get our workout vicariously- passionately training a new batch of Pocket Monsters toward mega-evolution in Pokémon X and Y.

Robert’s Pick: While I still long to be the very best, like no one ever was, I crave the exploits of Laharl, Etna, and Flonne even more. Across the last few weeks, I’ve been playing a review build of Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness and the game is everything any passionate Prinny fan could hope for. At its heart, the game maintains the tenets of the strategy role-playing series, while adding a number of new elements like the stat-building Dojo Dungeon and mountable monsters. If NIS could supply us with a PS Vita version, I might just seek permanent residency in the Netherworld, dood!

Say’s Pick: Much like the real world where you are flung into bottom of the food chain and are forced to struggle to survive,  I choose to join the massively multiple tactical strategy game (MMTSG?) Mech Mice. I’m fascinated with the creativity behind Hyper Hippo Productions, known primarily for the success of Club Penguin, the studio is switching to another member of the animal kingdom- tasking gamers with protecting these robotic rodents against both natural predators and a malevolent known as the Dark Union. I’m ready to tuck tail, suit up, and work for scraps of cheese- Squee!

  1. So, does Robert like Disgaea or am I just reading into things?

  2. Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure doesn’t have a price.

  3. I want to read the Beyond: Two Souls reviews, hopefully you’ll cover it.

Probably won’t buy it, but the idea and Cage’s approach to gaming interests me.

  4. Dude, what’s going on with T-G? Ads for Jaguar and Sting? Are old people coming for the latest Disgaea info or what?

    • You do realize it’s different selection for everyone, right? It must be a regional thing for you, lol. I’ve got kickstarter, MMO one and the DDR one.

Besides, what’s with the senior citizen hate!? :p

  5. I’ll probably get X and Y just so I can get them all.

As you get older, it gets harder and harder to find friends who still play Pokemon.

  6. I’ve been Gas Guzzlers Extreme ever since I got my license. Short review: its cheap to get started but the month fee will make you unhappy.

  7. Mech Mice sounds like a great idea.

  8. Ad block here. Sorry people.

  9. I have Pokemon X and the hardcover guide which I got for $52 shipped from Amazon.

  10. Beyond: Two Souls for me this week. GS offers an extra 30 minutes of game.

  11. thought of you guys today. Someone named “BigBlue” was in the room.

  12. Pokemon Day! Hoorah.

  13. Like a computer, your PS2 relies on an internal fan to keep it cool.
Water spots can also be a problem, and they don’t usually respond to a scratch-repair kit.
Now you need to setup your CD-ROM plugin if you are going
to be ripping or “storing” your PSX images on your
hard drive, you may want to download a CD-ROM emulator program like Alchahol
52% or Magic ISO virtual CD.
