While new releases might be scarce on consoles, the schedule of second-hand titles for PC continues strong. Originally a 3DS and then iOS title, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge moves onto Steam while adding enough features to justify the “Director’s Cut” designator. Popular Android and iOS app Radiant Defense also makes the jump from touchscreens to monitors, giving PC players access to the game’s vibrant and visually capable charms.

Robert’s Pick: Sure, the Rabi Lady series (known as Action Puzzle Rabi x Laby in Japan) may not be revolutionary. But there is an undeniable charm about the platform/puzzler, which tasks players with simultaneously maneuvering Alice and her exploding white hare Rabi across fifty increasingly complicated stages. Blending a charmingly simple concept with pleasingly tight controls, Rabi Lady 3 exhibits the sweetness of candy and the cost of a footlong sandwich. Skip a snack or meal to devour this delectable 3DS title.
Gonçalo’s Pick: It was during the Game Boy Color’s twilight years that I first heard of Shantae. At the time I and most gamers who owned a Gameboy Advance were too busy playing games like Metroid Fusion to give WayForward’s 8-bit platformer the attention it deserved. Luckily for us the series survived its initial hurdle and it’s even releasing a Director’s Cut edition of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge. The original was a fun, quirky throwback to the 16-bit platformers of old and any new content this version I will gladly welcome.
