New Game Releases: May 19th-25th, 2016

A Little Lily Princess

From the return of the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles and Pikuchu, this week’s schedule of new game releases has a number of luminaries from gaming’s golden era. Hell, even Bill and Lance’s descendants make an appearance for Contra III’s eShop appearance. With the publishing of Overwatch, it’s be interesting to see if characters like Genji, Tracer, and Mei are able to withstand the test of time.

Robert’s Pick: A female-fueled fighter with combatants (loosely) culled from Romance of Three Kingdoms? How could I not give a nod to Koihime Enbu? As an ecchi-energized visual novel released nearly a decade ago, Koihime Musō: Doki Otome Darake no Sangokushi Engi re-imagined Luo Guanzhong’s historical novel as a power struggle led by pugnacious lassies. Koihime Enbu thrusts thirteen of those generals (along with seven assistive characters) into a showdown filled with flashy specials and explosive combos, but is refreshingly light on aerials.

Gonçalo’s Pick: For the past few years, the Total War Series brought on a serious case of franchise fatigue for me. Perhaps the themes weren’t particularly to my liking or maybe recent gameplay additions weren’t particularly interesting. Though each release was a quality entry, they just didn’t carry the same spark for me. However, we are now witnessing what is possibly a dream come true, uniting Total War with Warhammer sounds like a match made in heaven. Few, if any games have ever managed to properly capture the epic battles and armies that we often read in its lore, but the team over at Creative Assembly might just address that.

  1. Why is loli is danger this week?

    • So her friend can save her, they can share a moment of emotion before making sweat, lily love all night.

      Tenderly, of course.

  2. Any game named Chompy Chomp Chomp Party is destined to bomba.

It’s like any sitcoms where the parents are asking what game their kids are playing and they say “Chompy Chomp Chomp Party, dad”.

  3. Koihime Enbu sounds good but $33 seems pretty high for 13 fighters.

  4. The Overwatch beta seems pretty fun, but $60 for a MP is a no-go for me.

  5. How about a Koihime Enbu review?

  6. How about a Koihime Enbu review?

  8. I’ll be grabbing Overwatch this week.
