New Game Releases: February 19th-25th, 2015

Hyperdevotion Noire Goddess Black Heart

For many, this week’s schedule of new releases is bound to elicit elation. Between the release of htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart and Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late, otaku have a number of reasons to rejoice. Likewise, Nintendo fans have a reason to happy, with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse providing justification for the oft-neglected Wii U gamepad touchscreen. In fact, the only gamers who might be disappointed with this week’s offerings are PC and Xbox-owning Resident Evil fans. Both factions have to wait an additional day to play Revelations 2 Episode 1.

Robert’s Pick: Between Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires, htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, and Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, niche is the new normal and I couldn’t be happier. While I’ll be playing all three titles (as well as Excave, a pleasing little Rogue-like), I’ve been especially enjoying my time with Idea Factory’s latest title. Eschewing the typical tenets of a Neptunia title, this Sting/Compile Heart collaboration envisions the Goddesses in chibi form, taking on foes on a tactical grid. Naturally, there’s a myriad of references, poking fun at everything from Miku to Monster Hunter.

  1. htoL#NiQ is a pretty crazy name. How do you even say it?

  2. Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart this week. The Vita HN games have been pretty damn fun.

  3. Is it me or does the XBox One seem to lag behind the PS4 in terms of software. Almost every week the PS4 has a few more games.

  4. I hope The Order 1886 doesn’t become another PSABR. Reviews have been pretty poor for it and now its clear why Sony kept a tight lid on it. Hopefully this doesn’t kill Ready at Dawn.

    • Seems like the big concern was that The Order would be linear. Sony didn’t answer that concern. Now it comes out and it’s short, linear, and non-interactive for long stretches.

      This will not end well.

      • I had preordered it months ago after seeing the game during Sony’s E3 presentation. It’s not bad per se, but quite linear, and as others have said, there’s moments of non-interaction. It’s like Ready at Dawn Studios wanted to make something between a movie and game. Cool, but don’t pay $60 for the experiment.

  5. Why are you trashing the Wii U Gamepad? I use it all the time in most Wii U games. No one like a Nintendo hater.

  6. I’m getting Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart as well this week.

  7. My excitement for DragonBall Xenoverse?

    Yeah, it’s over 9000!

And yes, I know the game is probably a weak, unbalanced fighter that has zero chance of ever being at EVO. But it’s DragonBall, my favorite anime.
