New Releases 6/7-6/13: Time Traveling Edition

Apparently, there’s no consistency in the world of video sports. Why else would Virtua Tennis 2009 be released on the same day as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10? For those unwilling to ponder that conundrum, take solace in knowing that Staff of Kings is set in 1939; 18 years before the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and nearly concurrent with the Fate of Atlantis. Whew, glad we cleared that up!

DesertEagle’s Pick
: As a fan of golf sims, I’ll likely be spending some quality time on the greens with Tiger Woods PGA 10. I’m also looking forward to a title I spent some time with on the E3 show floor- Lego Battles. Scoff at the Lego license if you want, but this RTS title looked surprisingly well done. Packed with ninety levels, six campaigns, and a skirmish mode; the cart is bustling with content.

TideGear‘s Pick: I know what you’re thinking! “Oh, there’s a indie PC game this week! TideGear is going to slobber all over that!” Well, dear reader, you’re wrong. Regardless of acclaim, I can’t help but think Blueberry Garden looks pretty dull. What is my pick, then? As someone who usually frowns at most traditional adventure games, Miami Law was absolutely not on my radar. That is, until the trailer caught my eye, and soon after, I tried the game itself. It looks to add the action that adventure games often desperately need via minigames that are actually fun! That’s my pick.

SeanNOLA’s Pick:

The Legendary Starfy is the easy pick for me this week:
Promises abound that Starfy will scratch that Kirby itch I’ve had since I
finished Kirby Super Star Ultra on the DS.

  10. Tiger, Tiger Woods, ya’ll!

  11. Wow, the wii has soo many titles coming out! I am excited to see how RockBand Unplugged plays.

  12. Is NOLA still at E3? You guys cant leave him behind!

  13. I wonder how much they’ll charge for new songs for the PSP version..

  14. Tiger Woods 10! The one game that gets me every year.

  15. Anyone know how many minigames Miami Law has?

  16. We were given a walk though, and Tide got a hands-on at E3.

  17. If felt MUCH better that Wii Golf. I need to spend more time with it to give extensive feedback. Maybe this week 😉

  18. About 40 or so.

  25. With a name like Blueberry Garden, how exciting can the game be?

  26. demo was pretty for Tiger Woods. I don’t know about spending $60 though.

  27. mmmmm blueberries…….

  28. Really looking forward to Prototype!

  29. I hope the Indiana Jones game doesn’t have a refrigerator level.

  30. No takers for the Wii verion of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. I loved the Fate of Atlantis game.

  31. C’mon Nintendo give us Mario Golf for Wii!

  32. Since SeanNOLA doen’t have a pick, I’ll chose for him- Tiger Woods PGA 2010. Let’s fave it, te series is always good, and gives players updated courses. WiiMotion Plus support is icing on the cake.

    Hire me, Tech-Gaming!

  33. I eat small children

The Legendary Starfy is like Kirby? Whoah!

  34. I can tell you Miami’s got a lot of laws. I violated the one about public drunkenness during Spring Break 1996 🙂

  35. tennis season starts earlier than golf!

  36. Miami Law and Lego Battles.

  37. We will- more than likely this week.

  38. That new Indiana Jones game doesn’t look very promising, they boast about using objects in the environment, is that the selling point?

  39. LOL. What game doesn’t use objects? Mario Bros use the damn shells.

Actually I heard the animation system is supposed to be good.

  40. Tiger Woods

  41. Rock Band Unplugged if the song list is decent.

  42. Raspberries FTW!

  43. There’s a lot of games coming out this week. Too bad I’m broke.

  44. I worry about games that advertise 80 hours. They typically seem artificially lengthened.

  45. If Class of Heroes<$35 then I'll get it.

  46. Digital Hustler

    So any TW reviews yet?

  47. There seems to be a lot of hype over Prototype… I don’t know. Not really doing anything for me.

  48. I thought the same thing, until I heard it was made by the maker of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.

So it’s a bloody M-Rated sandbox destruction game. Sounds good to me.

  49. I can’t wait to play prototype

  50. Prototype rocks….!!!!

  51. Prototype is actually really fun for the first few days of playing it, but the over the top gameplay loses its appeal and you’re just stuck with a bland action game.
