New Releases 11/23 – 11/29: L-Tryptophan Free Edition

As turkey day approaches it’s time for us to give thanks. First, we‘d like to share our gratitude with the developers who have worked arduously to bring us some truly remarkable software.  From Little Big Planet, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Fallout 2, to de Blob, this year has been chock full of rewards for gamers. Secondly, a big ‘thank you’ goes out to our readers, who have helped this site grow immensely over the past fourteen months. You are responsible for our continued success! Finally, DesertEagle, TideGear, and Blackmage would like to thank our families for their continued support.

Now pass that pumpkin pie, and don’t skimp on the whipped cream.

DesertEagle’s Pick
: For fans of turn-based strategy, this week sees two potential winners. Hopefully, Age of Empire: Mythologies for the DS will be as compelling as it’s prequel, while Mytran Wars looks to add a bit a graphical dazzle to the genre. This week, I’ll review both along with Sonic Unleashed.

TideGear’s Pick:
It seems the game onslaught is tapering off a bit. I’m cautiously hopeful for Sonic Unleashed to be good and though I don’t typically like standard RPGs, I may give Chrono Trigger DS a try. Lastly, the indie puzzle/strategy game Puzzlegeddon looks interesting as does Mytran Wars.

About Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  6. The holiday game rush looks officially over.

  7. Winter Sports 2: The Next Challenge

Is there a winter Olympics going on that someone didn’t tell me about???

Chrono Trigger for me. I’m intersted in your Mytran review. I’ve been playing alot of portable games.

  8. Chrono Trigger FTW.

  9. Emma in the Mountains

    Only if its rated AO!

  10. I’m asking for the The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga for Xmas.

  11. Sonic was delayed for the PS3 until December.

  12. Whats going on with Sonic in the picture?

  13. Nuthin’ for me this week, expect that pumpkin pie.

  14. Chrono Trigger

  15. Chrono Trigger is gonna be <333 once again. Not to sure about the new Sonic game but I may just rent it to try it. Pumpkin pie sounds good right now.

  16. I’ll gibve Sonic a rental, if it get more than a 8.0/B then a buy.

  17. Foosball for the Wii could either be genius or garbage.

  18. Where’s TideGears Pick of the Week? He offers a nice counterbalance to DE.

  19. Chrono Trigger! Why no love, DE?

  20. Never heard of Mytran Wars. If its like Advance Wars, its worth a look.

  21. Sonic’s Back! I hope this one’s good. The videos make it look fun.

  22. Chrono Trigger, can’t wait.

  23. Age of Empire: Mythologies. I’m with Desert, the first one kicked ass.

  24. He looks like he’s spinballing 😉

  25. KOF collection

  26. Chrono Trigger, if it’s $29.99

  27. I want Sonic, but I’ll probably end up getting Wii Music from my stepmom. thats life.

  28. If your Sonic review says its halfway decent, I’m interested.

  29. Chronotrigger

  30. AOE:M if it’s like the first.

I agree with Desert, one of the most underrated DS games.

  31. I don’t understand the title.

  32. Looks like you updated, TideGear! Thanx

  33. That’s actually touching that a website thanks its readers. I couldn’t see IGN or 1up doing something like that. Nice touch.

  34. Mytran Wars could work out for me.

  35. Bad news readers- It looks like Mytran Wars will not be available until 2009 🙁

  36. Amazon shows a date of November 25th, DE!

    Same with Giant Bomb:

    http://www.giantbomb.com/mytran-wars/61-24597/

    And IGN says:
“It’s the 23rd century: The earth’s natural resources are virtually exhausted and the ruling multinational conglomerates are searching for new raw material deposits in space in order to avert the impending catastrophe. One planet turns out to be a real El Dorado, full of natural resources. But as the human conquerors in their armed mecha encounter the extraterrestrial inhabitants a dreadful war breaks out.

In this strategy title, the player researches into new technologies and continues to re-arm his mecha in Mytran Wars. Battles are thereby fought in vast 3D landscapes against the merciless AI or other human opponents in various multiplayer modes.
    Genre: Strategy
    Exclusively on PlayStation Portable
    Release Date: November 25, 2008
    MSRP: $29.99″

  37. No Mytran Wars? AOE:M will have to do, then.

  38. Happy Thanksgiving, TG’ers!

  39. Only thing I’m buying is the $30 Dead Space at Target.

  40. Got Chrono Trigger today!!!

  41. Wow, I remember playing sonic and I’m really excited that they are making a new one. Thanks for the update.
