Out of the sixty new games due to be released this week, nearly half are geared toward the youth market. For some, children’s games are synonymous with middling quality, often relying on licensed characters to draw players in. Hopefully, a handful of this week’s titles buck that trend, and offer gamers of all ages a deep and polished gaming experience.

DesertEagle’s Pick: Space Invaders Extreme 2 manages to trump the original title in every single way; it’s probably one of my favorite handheld shmups. Of course, Borderlands 17,750,000 different gun variations has me salivating wildly- I can’t wait to give the FPS/RPG hybrid a ‘shot’!
SeanNOLA’s Pick: I’ve been waiting with bated breath for Borderlands ever since their post-E3 information deluge. A lot of people have been critical of the change in art direction, but I for one appreciate the new look. Some of you may remember me championing Marvel Super Hero Squad back in June, and I will confirm that I am genuinely excited for its release.
TideGear’s Pick: Despite it’s apparent similarities to both Fallout 3 and Rage, Borderlands intrigues me with its roguelike-like (Yeah, I said it!) random generation. For those who know my love of shmups, my interest in Space Invaders Extreme 2 should go without saying.
I always thought Borderland was a wannabe Fallout. I like the new look, and I might pick it up.
Time for the yearly WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 purchase.
