New Releases 2/14-2/20: Deep Cleavage Edition

This week’s new releases may be the only time you’ll ever witness two forms of lethal extraterrestrials, a pair of crime scene investigators, Che Guevara, and one malicious walking pickle sharing the same space without the use of any psychedelic enhancements. We’re going to assume that this fascinating selection of protagonists is our Valentine’s Day gift from developers.

This week’s trivia question: Which new release was admonished by the ESRB for depicting, “female characters wearing provocative outfits that expose underwear and deep cleavage”?

DesertEagle’s Pick: As an aficionado of retro games, I’m finding the Data East Arcade Classics compilation too delectable to pass by. I’ll also be revisiting my youthful pastimes with Aliens vs. Predator. As a kid I was obsessed with H. R. Giger’s creation- drawing its elongated head and outstretched claws on every school desk I could find.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: It’s been 10 years since I snuck a copy of Rebellion’s Aliens vs Predator onto the computers in my high school drafting class and learned that “Your Mother” was the greatest tag for playing a multiplayer game over a LAN.  Needless to say, I’m very excited for the team’s revival of an old favorite, but it has some steep competition against a visit from another favorite: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.

TideGear’s Pick: I’ve been looking forward to Aliens vs. Predator, but my brief impressions of the multiplayer demo were tainted by clunky alien controls. Maybe I just wasn’t doing it right? Regardless, I’m in it for the single player and the varied gameplay of the three campaigns therein. The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom definitely has my attention, but I highly doubt it will dethrone Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke  (trailer and demo) as my favorite parallel selves, time-travel action/puzzle game.

  18. Well, I did use pencil, so it was easily wiped away or erased. Usually it wasn’t cleaned until someone drew an arrow and the principals name next to my artistry.

  19. Why did the Game Informer review say “12 games” did they even play it?

  20. I’ll be getting Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth which is the answer to the trivia question.

  21. I still need to pickup MAG.

  22. Pretty funny NOLA.

  23. Even though the demo was kind of ‘meh’ Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce.

  24. I’m not suprized. GI’s review make me think they don’t even play the games.

  25. SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3 for the trivia question. Just kidding!

  26. I think it’s time for a two man review of Dynasty Warriors with Shipwreck.

  27. Two crime scene investigators?

  28. Nothing for me this week. I can wait for some price drops, and I still haven’t finished Mass Effect 2.

  29. What is Deadly Premonition?

  30. Nola, where you a marine, alien or predator when you used that handle?

  31. I expetced to see some cleavage- false advertising!

  32. KORG DS-10 Plus

    A review would be great.

  33. If I can get it for $20 or less, I’m sold.

    Tada!

  41. Data East Collection sounds fun.

  42. Yeah, Tidegears picks are up.

  43. Aliens? It’s all about the Predator.

  44. What’s the trivia answer?

  45. I might try the Korg Sequencer. Is Gamestop carrying the game.

  46. but I highly doubt it will dethrone Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke as my favorite parallel selves, time-travel action/puzzle game.

    There’s more than one?

  47. I only got to me the Marine and Predator in the demo. How do you choose?

  48. Tropico 3 demo had me hooked!

  49. I need to try that demo. I hope its a improvement over the last few games.

  50. I hope you review SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3. Thats the only one I’m interested in this week.

  51. KORG DS-10 Plus you have me curious!

  52. Way to suck people in with a cheesy title!

  53. I got in Korg DS-10 PLUS and Ragnarock. I’ll be covering Korg, while NOLA gets the other.

Data East and Tropico 3 are due in, and I wouldn’t be surprised if AvP showed up.

  54. I saw the one paragraph review too. Nice catch!

  55. It’s funny you mention that. I spoke to Ship about this game. He had NO interest in reviewing it 🙂

  56. Aliens vs. Predator better kick ass!

  57. Just spent my last $10 picking up Trine on PSN.

  58. The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom will be getting a look then thanks to Tide.

  59. Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, but not before a big price drop.

  60. Whose bring out Crime Scene the same week as Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth? That’s some sneaky-ass shit!

  61. Nothing for me.

  62. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth

  63. Aliens vs. Predator might be worth a try.

  64. What kind of kid playing AvP in drafting class or draws aliens on school desks?

    The wonderfully geeky T-G kids!

  65. Thanks for the new release information. Sadly, we seem to get the new games about a year behind you guys do.

  66. I’m just amazed people are still playing EverQuest.

  67. This article needs more cleavage and less aliens.

  68. AvP, I got the big giant ass, facehugger edition preordered.

  69. I sent a question for the podcast, and I’ll restate it here.

I can’t seem to find Shiren the Wanderer. I know you guys always love/get the Atlus games. Can you let me know if there’s been a problem with it? My GS says there’s no copies within 100 miles!

  70. Adam Milecki - TideGear

Haha, yeah, they’re mostly indie games and I think most of them were inspired by Cursor*10. (http://www.nekogames.jp/mt/2008/01/cursor10.html and http://www.nekogames.jp/mt/2009/02/cursor10_2s.html) Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke had the involvement of the Cursor*10 creator.

There’s also the upcoming sequel to Echochrome, Echoshift, made by Artoon and Sony. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu_ps-YtbGE)

  71. Adam Milecki - TideGear

Same here. Try actually calling some places? Maybe the GS site just hasn’t been updated, or perhaps there was a shipping SNAFU.

  72. No, it’s not a problem with the GS site, I’ve had my store do a manual lookup. They’re not at retail yet- at least not at Gamestop. In fact, there not even in the system.

  73. I think that’s out. I saw in on the PSN.

  74. When is the nest podcast? Question sent.

  75. Morgan W's Vijayjay

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3 is going to kick ass.

  76. Adam Milecki - TideGear

We’re recording a new one in less than two hours!

  77. Tropico 3 might be worth a rental for me.

  78. Those Aliens look TOO mechanical in the picture.

  79. I’ll pass this week.

  80. Does AvP come out today or tomorrow?
