Q & A With Q Entertainment

Tech-Gaming recently spoke with Q Entertainment
representatives, about the upcoming Xbox Live Marketplace title,  Rez HD.

Tech-Gaming: Why remake Rez?

Q-Entertainment: Rez is one of those titles with a huge
following. Gamers in the U.S. have been asking for a new version of Rez since
the original PS2 gameis been quite hard to find. Mizuguchi actually licensed
the game from Sega, and he wanted to bring it up to date, so to speak.

TG: So what changes can gamers expect?

QE: Well, first of all, the game [Rez HD] sounds fantastic. Not only
has the sound been remastered to take full advantage of 5.1 Surround, but the sound
was re-engineered as well as the graphics. We went back and retextured the game,
and made it true widescreen.

TG: So was the remake primarily for fans of the original or
to garner a new audience?

QE: A bit of both, really. For fans, this is the version to
get. The framerate has been doubled, and the game looks fresh. But underneath it
all, it’s still the same gameplay that fans loved. For anyone that hasn’t
played the game, they are in for quite an experience.

TG: Mizuguchi ‘s games are unique in that sound and music
are fundamental to the experience. What’s next for him?

QE: Well, yes you’re correct with that statement. Both the
Lumines
series and the Every Extend Extra games utilize sound to create unique experiences.
We are currently working on a game in a unique world called Eden, where music
and sound are as important as anything else. Gamers that purchase a Q Entertainment
game will receive the full experience not just eye-candy.

TG: Any additions to the game, perhaps a bonus level?

QE: No, we wanted to stick to the original as close as possible. I believe there was talk at one time…

TG: You must hear a lot of vibration jokes?

QE: Not really, I’ve read a few in the reviews. I can
confirm that vibration will be a part of the Rez HD experience. It wouldn’t be Rez without it.
