Questyle QCC Dongle Pro2 review
A Little Dongle with a Long and Messy Compatibility Checklist

There are two types of wireless headphone owners. Some are happy as long as their earbuds connect without any fuss. But others can become frustrated when they find out that their expensive headphones support a collection of audio formats their phone cannot transmit. Questyle’s QCC Dongle Pro2 is aimed at this second group. This tiny USB-C Bluetooth transmitter brings LDAC, aptX Lossless, and other advanced wireless options to compatible phones, computers, and consoles. With a $99 price, its a potentially useful upgrade. But whether it deserves a home in one of your USB ports really depends on what equipment you own.
When the Boom Arrives Late
Sound quality is only part of the package. Ordinary Bluetooth connections can introduce enough delay that an actor’s mouth moves ahead of their dialogue or a gunshot seems to occur after the muzzle flash. Software like VLC can sometime compensate, but there’s little assistance in gaming. The Pro2 offers aptX Adaptive and LE Audio low-latency options, with advertised figures as low as 48 milliseconds and 20 milliseconds, respectively. But those are conditional claims, with the lowest figure requiring suitable receiving hardware. Just buying a Bluetooth 6.1 transmitter doesn’t automatically make your older sets of earbuds operate like a dedicated gaming headset.

The retail package includes the transmitter, a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter, instructions, and a warranty card. At approximately 25 millimeters wide and 2.2 grams, the Pro2 isn’t too bulky and its glossy, onyx-colored body is discreet, save for the branch prominent etched on the face. The exterior might resemble metal but its made of fingerprint-attracting plastic. The horizontal shape also has consequences. It can obstruct neighboring laptop ports and might not fit on devices with a TPU case. Certainly, a short extension cable would have been welcome for certain use cases. On a phone or handheld, it occupies a potentially valuable charging connection. There’s no charging pass-through, so an accessory intended to make listening more convenient can introduce another problem.
Pair First, Then Play
Questyle’s mobile app provides the easiest method setup. Plug the Pro2 into a USB-C phone, put your headphones into pairing mode, and use the app to establish the connection. From there, you can select codecs, check connection status, update firmware, and access Game Mode or Auracast. Once paired, the transmitter can move to another compatible source and reconnect. It’s a manageable process, but console users should keep the app handy for configuration rather than expect all these controls to appear on the PS5 or Switch. Just remember that your headphones pair with the dongle itself, so you’ll need to establish the connection and set things up first.

PS5 and Nintendo Switch support makes the Pro2 an option for anyone hoping to reuse their wireless headphones across several devices. But occasionally, there’s more to get things working that just inserting the dongle. You need to confirm USB audio output, select the appropriate low-latency settings, and ensure your headphones support them. Using a codec designed to preserve musical detail doesn’t produce the quickest or best gaming output. The handheld charging-port conflict can be another consideration during longer sessions. For competitive play and regular voice chat, I’d still recommend a gaming headset with a dedicated wireless connection with low latency and a noise-canceling mic.
Better Transmission, But Check Your Expectations
Yet with compatible headphones, the Pro2’s can deliver greater clarity during busy musical passages and help separate voice and music. These are improvements best noticed in a quiet living room so they probably won’t transform your audio on a noisy commuter train or bus. LDAC and LHDC V5 extend fidelity beyond the original standard QCC, while aptX Lossless offers another option for appropriately equipped headphones. However, LDAC is still a lossy codec, and lossless transmission depends on the receiving device and wireless conditions. The Pro2 can’t restore information missing from a compressed recording or make inexpensive earbuds sound like premium headphones, so don’t expert miracles.

Auracast gives the Pro2 a useful function beyond just latency or sound quality: it can broadcast audio to multiple compatible receivers. Sharing a movie while each person wears their own headphones is one example. Expectedly, both listeners need Auracast-capable equipment. Ordinary Bluetooth equipment doesn’t satisfy that requirement. And this is the recurring complication with Questyle’s otherwise capable accessory. Its feature list is extensive, but each benefit comes with another compatibility check.
Conclusion
The QCC Dongle Pro2 is best when it solves a specific limitation in equipment you already like. For an iPhone owner with premium LDAC headphones, or someone who can use its LE Audio and Auracast features, the small transmitter offers flexibility. At the discounted $75 price, that’s easier to appreciate. At $99, I’d want to use several of its capabilities before committing. Anyone already satisfied with their phone’s codec support or a dedicated gaming headset has fewer reasons to need one. Questyle has built a useful bridge between devices, but checking what’s on both ends should proceed a purchase.
