New Game Releases: January 18th-24th, 2018

With notable releases like Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory and Lost Sphear, it’s starting to look like the post-holiday drought has finally ended, with the next seven days ushering in a few tempting titles. Unsurprisingly, the Nintendo Switch is still dominating over it’s dedicated hardware-based brethren, bringing another fifteen titles to the eShop. While the 3DS library isn’t growing like it used to, the emergence of Kirby Battle Royale, means that the handheld still has a bit of life left.

Robert’s Pick: I’ve enjoyed the Digimon games dating back to the PSOne era, so there’s a strong possibility that I’ll be playing Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory, even if press copies are scarce. (From the last of push behind the digital only PS Vita version, it’s likely that Bandai Namco won’t be devoting too many resources on the release). Of course, I’m also looking forward to Lost Sphear, and I’m eager to see what Tokyo RPG Factory will do for an encore. Sure, I Am Setsuna wasn’t perfect, but I admire any attempt to rekindle the gameplay of classic JRPGs. Hopefully, Square Enix won’t keep the purse strings so tight this time out, because that seemed to be an issue last time out.

  1. Darkest Dungeon is showing that Switch tax. I got it for $10 on PC. That’s less than half!!!

  2. So Kirby isn’t a regular Kirby game more of a brawler.

  3. I’ll wait for Lost Sphear to drop in price.

  4. Will you review DHacker’s Memory this week? Hopefully, we get a platform comparison!

  5. Genital Jousting seems like one of those games that’s been out forever- I guess in Early Access. So when it shows up as a “new release” its a little surprising.

  6. I’m interested in Cyber Sleuth but probably not at full price.
