Rob’s Pick: There’s a lot of good games coming out this week! So here we go: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter might be one of the best JRPGs around, thanks to Estelle And Joshua and a cast of NPCs who have their own arcs. Marisa of Liartop Mountain if you want to play D&D alongside Touhou characters. There’s a tabletop game going on, but I love how Remilia, Flandre, Sakuya, and Patchouli have fourth-wall breaking dialog. And I can’t neglect the dungeon crawling delights of Class of Heroes 3 Remaster. It’s tough, offers a lot of customization, while still adhering to tradition. Yes, I’m still trying to figure out what happened with Adventure Academia: The Fractured Continent.
For those seeking something with real-time action, Moros Protocol is a solid blend of first-person action with roguelike elements that runs well on Steam Deck. Lastly, Platypus Reclayed might not be the best horizontal shooter I’ve ever clayed and doesn’t really break the mold. But it’s definitely quite pliable, in short spins.

Matt S’ pick (editor, DigitallyDownloaded): I mean does this even need qualifying? Of course, Trails in the Sky: 1st Chapter is my big one this week. The demo absolutely blew me away, and as someone who came to Legend of Heroes with Cold Steel, I’m really looking forward to being able to go back to one of the cornerstone titles in one of my favourite JRPG properties of all.
While that’s about 80 hours of my time covered for this week, for a second choice, I’ll go with Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition. I love Puzzle Quest. Like, REALLY love Puzzle Quest. I must have played about five different versions of the original. Now, after so many years in limbo, it’s back. I can’t wait to see what the developers have done with it given how much the industry has moved in the years since (and I desperately hope they’re all good things).

Ryan’s pick: I’ve been on an FPS kick lately with Borderlands 4 dropping at the end of last week, so my pick this week goes to Bloodthief. I’m absolutely terrible at parkour games, with most progression in the ones I’ve played chalked up to complete luck. I’m going to go with this one because I really like the art style and speed of the game, and visually it slightly reminds me of Rise of the Triad. The platforming and battle is super fast, so I think that it will help mitigate my poor prowess even if I miss a jump as I’ll be able to get right back up and try again.
I am a huge fan of Vampire Survivor and this week Megabonk allows me to enjoy this genre in a 3D space this time. I haven’t played a 3D survivor title yet, but I think that being able to kite enemies around in different elevations looks pretty engaging. I never really felt eye strain from games until I marathoned Vampire Survivor so hopefully the different perspective and vectors enemies will be coming from will help with that.

Ryan, how is BL4 running for you? I’ve been on the fence. Most reviewers didn’t mention problems. Most people on social media do. I don’t know who to believe.
When did Boys Love 4 come out? :p
Amy Rose. I thought Sonic Racing CrossWorlds was coming out this week.
