Rob’s Pick: Noctuary’s action challenges players with precise dodges, stance changes, and shifting between a pair of playables. Combat is bolstered by the game’s Blessing system, which rewards relationship building with all kinds of passive perks. If you’re looking for an experience that blends cheerful exposition with a solid action, Noctuary is an easy recommendation.
If you’ve ever wished for more Kaname Date’s bizarro dream dives, No Sleep for Kaname Date is exactly what you’re looking for. Positioned between the two mainline AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES games, there are plenty of familiar faces and some cool twists on the escape room mechanics. So put down your porn mags and prepare yourself for No Sleep.

Ryan’s pick: The late 90’s had so many amazing car games, from the Carmaggedon to Twisted Metal. This week, FUMES gets my official stamp as it has all that same fun car mayhem, missiles, and explosions that I love, plus some enormous bosses. The game is single player, so that is potentially one thing that I’ll miss as multiplayer was an absolute blast in Twisted Metal, but from what I remember I still had a lot of fun playing that one alone. I like that you can do a bit of exploration and drive as far as you want in the procedurally created environments, so this could be a solid choice if you liked Twisted Metal.
Once I had finished the final DanganRonpa game a friend insisted I play AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES. Regrettably, I only played it for a few minutes as I was trying to play it on a smaller TV and the size of the text was just too small. Now that there are two main games and this new midquel for the series, I think it’s time to give this game a shot as I’ve found that after playing the DanganRonpa series on a portable that VN’s really work well on those types of consoles.

Matt S’ pick (editor, DigitallyDownloaded): A-Set! A-Set! A-Set! In a freaking bunny bikini no less. Holy crap I love No Sleep for Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES with the heat of a thousand suns. And no, not just for the fan service (but, again, A-freaking-Iris-Set in a bunny bikini). Escape rooms by the Zero Escape team are always going to grab by attention, and they are such a highlight here that I would love this game if that was literally all that’s on offer. Thankfully, there’s also loads of humour, an excuse to spend more time with some great characters, and enough thirst it’s like the game were developed in the middle of the Sahara.
I’m also looking forward to playing Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of The Rings Game. A wholesome, non-combat Lord of the Rings game? I never thought I’d see the day, but this does seem sweet, and pleasant, and very much in the same mould that has powered everything from Animal Crossing to Disney Dreamlight Valley and Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I’m always up for more of that.

Thinking about Wuchang. But once there’s a price drop.
