This week, Resident Evil Requiem bringing survival horror back into the spotlight, with the title alternating between Grace and Leon’s missions. It’s joined by Tales of Berseria Remastered, which send players back to the Holy Midgand Empire, but with the technical improvements a decade brings. Rob’s pick: If you’re even a little into story-driven RPGs, Tales of Berseria Remastered is an easy recommendation. It’s one of the darker entries in Namco Bandai’s prolific franchise, following the protagonist on a revenge-fueled journey. Expectedly, that pursuit becomes something much deeper and personal for Velvet. Combat is fast and fluid, letting you chain artes together in flashy combos while still having enough flexibility to experiment with different playstyles.

On the other hand, Raiden Fighters Remix Collection might be a better selection if you prefer a dose of arcade-era adrenaline. Here, you’re getting a serious dose of classic STG action with the three-game anthology delivering the series’ signature screen-filling chaos. I just wish there was a PC version, as Dotemu’s 2015 compilation is lacking.

Matt S’ pick (editor, DigitallyDownloaded): There’s obviously a lot releasing this week (like, a crazy amount), but for me, it’s Pokémon. Yes, it’s lousy for Nintendo to release this as a paid game when the Game Boy Advance app is there for paying subscribers. We all know this is a cash grab. But I’m going to be part of the problem, because I passionately love FireRed and LeafGreen and am looking forward to playing through them again.

I’m also very interested in Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death. I love how the likes of Famicom Detective Club and Paranormasight have given a new lease of life to these kinds of point-and-click visual novel mystery games, and right now I’ll pick up any of them that come my way. Aksys generally has a good eye for them, too.
