Weekly Roundup: DRM Free Edition

– If you’ve had the unfortunate experience of seeing the red
ring of death on your Xbox 360, and have had your system replaced or
refurbished, you probably discovered the dreaded DRM woes. Any titles
downloaded from the Marketplace won’t function if you aren’t connected to the
internet. Luckily, Microsoft has a simple fix for you. Additionally, Major Nelson can walk you through the process. Basically, you log in to Microsoft’s site with your
gamertag, where you will see a list of all the content you’ve downloaded. Next,
you turn on your working Xbox, which tells the site what console to transfer
your licenses to.Finally, redownload any titles that have given you DRM
issues. We found the process easy, yet depressing- the site reminded us we’ve
gone through nine consoles in three short years. How about you?

– News or Rumor? A report surfaced that God of War 3 will be
shown at E3 next month.

– Still hurting from the purchase price of your PS3? So is
Sony, to the tune of 3.3 billion dollars. Some speculate that the PS3 hardware may never be profitable for the company.

– For 360 owners, the Xbox Live Marketplace has two new demos- Top Spin 3, and Lego Indiana Jones. But, you already read our review of the latter, didn’t you?

– Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 for the 360 was given a title update that adds three multiplayer maps, ranks, and a new option for a versus match. A extremely choppy video with all the additions can be found here.

  1. Why the Brokeback Mountain pic?

  2. What is you have two 360’s (for my wife and I) that use two gamertags?

  3. How could they lose 3.3 Billion on the PS3. They’ve sold 11 million units? They lost 300 dollars on each?

  4. That’s the cost of the blu-ray war.

  5. Thanks for the DRM info; I’m redownloading now!

Well, Microsoft has lost a billion on red-ringed 360s.

And India gained a good portion of that billion dollars.

  7. God of War 3 needs to be awesome, bloody and great.

  8. Played Indy Demo, it’s like crack. I’ll buy full game on the way home tonight.

  9. I was waiting for the DRM fix for some time.

  10. Thats a roundup

  11. 3.3 billion is probably the amount they paid Warner Bros. to fuck Toshiba right before CES and win the high def war. Blu-ray might have won the battle, but they already lost the war. The delivery system of the future will be digital downloads.

  12. Top Spin3 =tha lame.

  13. Amen, brotha.

That’s the price to kill HD. I hope you’re happy Sony.

  14. I’ve only gone through 3 360s. One was dead from the get-go, though.

  15. Out of all my friends with 360’s no one has their original one.

I’ve gone through three of them, before getting an elite.

  16. Watch out, this can only be done once every 12 months. I believe the life expectancy of a 360 is significantly shorter than that.

  17. Two stories in one day? The gods are pleased.

  18. Yes, I read the review, and bought the game. Lego that is, tennis is boring.

  19. Are you guys going to E3? Please report on God of War 3.

  20. and if you see the Joystiq guys, punch them for editing out my comments. Till they bleed out their belly button.

  21. And Rainbow Six Vegas 2 received a title update entitled Fan Pack. It adds new ranks, 3 maps, and a new option for versus matches.

  22. Agreed. $60 for this game is crazy. It should have been $30 tops.
