DesertEagle’s Pick
: While collecting blocks along Tortuga’s ports may not seem radically different than similar diversions at the Hogwarts School or on the surface of Coruscant, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game is certain to offer another gratifying family-friendly re-contextualization of the LEGO formula. Cannons and polystyrene-enhanced wenches at the ready, matey! (Edit: WayForward just let us know that Mighty Milky Way will be released this week, which might be worth a download as well.)

SeanNOLA’s Pick: MDK2 was one of my favorite Dreamcast games, but I’m not so sure how well it holds up against modern games. Still, it looks like the most fun romp available this week, and it beats digging up my old Dreamcast.

Samurage’s Pick: Personally, though it looks just a little bit like a kiddy-game, I’m looking forward to Fate: The Cursed King. I’ve heard good things about it, and it’s right up my genre.

About Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. What no Brink pick?

    You’ve lost it Deagle!

  2. I may have to pick up LEGO:POTC. The LEGO games aren’t the only games that my brother and I both enjoy.

  3. I could have sword Virtua Tennis 4 came out a month or so ago.

  4. MX vs. ATV games always make me think of SeanNOLA’s story about Deagle looking for a new copy of a five year old MX game. lolz….

  5. Never heard of The First Templar. What kind of game is that one?

  6. I remember playing the first MDK so long ago. Never figured out what the letter stood for. Most people said “Murder, Death, Kill”

  7. MX vs. ATV Alive is interesting. They’re selling the game for $40, but offering a shitload of DLC. I wonder if the full game will feel kind of empty/short.

  8. What game will you review this week?

I could take a chance of Brink if the reviews are good.

  9. What kind of copy protection does the PC version of Brink use?

  10. Gatling Gears looks pretty cool.

  11. Brink if the reviews are decent.

  12. The Lego games might be the most milked franchise in game history.

  13. No PSN games this week? What a shock?

  14. Theres one called “Check your Credit Card Statements for Fraudulent Activity”

I played it twice. It’s not that fun. 2/10

  15. Ok, here’s the thing- I try to get at least a bit of playtime for a title before it gets the pick of the week nod.

With Brink, I played it for a bit at last year’s E3 and haven’t touched it since.

  16. I saw Shipwreck got a review copy- you didnt.

  17. I didn’t 🙁

Despite reviewing Fallout: New Vegas, Rogue Warrior, and even having our Wet review linked on the company site, we failed to get Brink.

  18. Wow, that’s pretty cold. One guy I follow on Twitter got a 360 version today, and it doesn’t look like anyone goes to his site. Did you say something had about Bethesda on the podcast, maybe?

  19. Lego PoTC for me.

  20. I doubt it, they seem to like Bethesda games.

  21. The Lego Pirates demo convinced me to get the game when it hits the $29 mark.

  22. Is the pic from Brink? I though the game looked more like Borderlands.

  23. That was Top Spin 4 2Ks rival game.

  24. mindalmostblown

    No Saguroo or SNOLA picks?

  25. How come WayForward’s never been on your podcast?

  26. Blankas Electric Anus

Brink could easily suck. Enemy Territory didn’t exactly win me over and I payed $5 for it.

  27. Big Hairy Spider

I’m sure it will be cool, but being open when your guy grabs onto a ledge has me worried.

  28. I haven’t heard of Might Milky Way until now.

  29. No video for it either. Hmmm…

  30. I saw your tweet about Gatling Gears. Hope you tell us more.

  31. HAHA Good one.

  32. The First Templar might be interesting.

  33. Virtua Tennis 4 might be worth a go.

  34. Brink on PS3, huh? Great time to launch an online MP game!

  35. Is think they might hold off on a release.

  36. letssleeptoday

I wish Mighty Milky Way had more info.

  37. Barking Mad Duck

    Consider yourself lucky!

  38. I might Lego pirates today.

  39. I saw Brink for PS3 today. I’m going to pass until PSN is back up.

I guess a good question for the podcast would be how much money do you think will be lost by the outage.
