New Releases 8/17-8/23: Too Humane Edition

While Too Human claims to be post-modern, mixing Nordic mythologies with technological weaponry, this week feels absolutely post-Madden. Most publishers seem fearful that gamers wallets are still empty after the release of last week’s football simulation steamrolled through retail channels. Nevertheless, we are excited to see how well Too Human will perform critically and financially.

Pick of the Week: Commando: Steel Disaster, with it’s $20 retail price, and Metal Slug-inspired gameplay, could prove to be a winner. Too bad the title has had little press, and as of this writing the website is ‘currently unavailable’. Here’s hoping that Steel Disaster isn’t a total disaster; gameplay footage is shown below.

  1. Will get Too Human.

  2. Ya’ll forgot to add Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty for the PS3, even though it’s DLC.

  3. Stay away from Rebel raiders. I picked it up on the PS2 as a clearance game; it’s seventeen levels of the exact same thing.

  4. Wow, never heard of the Commando Game; looks like a Metal Slug copy that could be worth my money.

  5. Another week of saving money!

  6. seconded.

  7. qUEST FOR bOOTY, dudez

  8. Too Human, once it hits $30 or is on Microsoft’s training site.

  9. Might hunt booty is the quest is long enough.

  10. How much is the new Ratchet and Clank game, and do you need the disk for the expansion?

  11. I’ve been playing with adding MSRPs (retail prices) to all New Releases- what do Tech-Gamers think?

  12. Do they still make PS2 games? and if so, why?

  13. Commando looks floaty and repetitive.

  14. Crap week anyway you look at it.

  15. Too Human for me.

  16. Smash Court Tennis; I’m a tennis nut.

  17. Commando looks awesome.

  18. I do want to see how Too Human turns out, and I’ll get Quest for Booty once I manage to get a PS3, but…

Other than that, there isn’t too much for interesting releases this week. It’s been like that for a few weeks now… luckily the Fall season is right around the corner, so we’ll hopefully see some new anticipated releases soon.

  19. This week I may go “Commando”!

  20. Bootay!!!

    Ratchet and Clank, yeah!

  21. By “Metal Slug Inspired” do you mean “Metal Slug Ripp-Off?” I was a fan of metal slug and this looks identical, except for the somersault. I would probably pick it up if I had a DS.

  22. It looks the Commando can take more than one hit.

  23. If I had a PS3 then I would definitely go with the R&C game. Originally I was looking forward to Too Human as a nice rental, but it seems it’s not such a fun game. I’ll rent it eventually, just not immediately like I had planned.

  24. At first I really though you overlooked Too Human. It would seem to be the pick of the week. Now the reviews are out, I realize you guys did the right thing.

Way to save me money guys.

  25. Def. getting Too Human. Liked the demo.

  26. More slim pickens but that Commando game looks sweet.

  27. I was not too fond of Too Human to be honest, but Commando looks cool.

  28. Wonder why the techno Norse God has that dumb thing on his face. Techno Norse Gods shouldn’t need dumb things on their face.

  29. I’m so bummed out about the negative Too Human buzz I’m hearing.

  30. Too Human’s demo was awesome but I keep hearing mixed things about it. I think I’m going to rent it first.

  31. ‘cept blood.

  32. Can’t wait for R%C: Quest For Booty. Gotta clean up some hard drive space on my PS3 first.

Also, as for the CAG contest, PS3!!

  33. Definitely looking forward to see how the final product of Too Human turns out. I wasn’t a big fan of the demo, but if things were polished up a bit, it could be another Mass Effect – minus the intriguing story.
