New Releases 7/6-7/12: World Pieces Edition

This week’s new releases allow you to unite the world with friendly athletic competition, or splinter it apart in a quest for global domination. Additionally, this could be a sad week for the thousands of potentially displaced carnies, now that Sega has ported its very popular Wii game onto it’s dual-screened portable.

Pick of the Week: As long-time fans of Civilization 4, we appreciate the changes developer Firaxis has made to make the title more console friendly. With smaller world maps, quicker games, and easier research and construction options, Civ Revolution seems like a perfect title for the console strategy fan. Developer created scenarios will be downloadable every week for owners of the 360 and PS3 versions, in which players will be able to compete for leaderboard vanity.

  1. First!

I’m saving my money for NCAA Football next week.

  2. I liked the civ revolution demo, but not enough to drop $60 on the game.

  3. Yeah, if you have even a decent PC, Civ 4 retails for $29.99 and can be found for less.

Don’t understand why people would pay $60

  4. Will i’ll be picking up Civ for the DS. I want to play it on the go, and i’m a sucker for DS strategy games.

  5. I didn’t know Eurocom, the makers of Beijing 2008, was still around.

  6. Chocobo’s Dungeon, as soon as I see it for less than 30.

  7. Umm, for the luxury of playing on their couch, on a HDTV instead of a 17″ monitor.

  8. No PSP games again? C’mon Sony do something about this.

  9. URT3 is finally here for 360. Go, me!

  10. Like the preview said, it’s been tweaked for console play. No more 4 hr. sessions.

  11. Why is the PS2 still on this list? Do they still make PS2 (xbox and gamecube) games?

  12. I might have to try the Olympics games, if its evolved from track and field-style button mashing

  13. Civ DS for me.

  22. Civilization Revolutions looks boring.
