New Game Releases: November 9th-15th, 2017

The holiday shopping season is often associated with crowded malls and gastronomic indulgences. But lately, it feels like the gaming industry is trying to add their own tradition: reissues of older titles. Sure, the title might say “new releases”, but there’s an abundance of previously released titles this week. From a $200 collector’s edition of BioShock and de Blob on consoles to the surge of ports arriving on the Nintendo Switch. Luckily, there are a few new experiences, with titles like Demon Gaze II and Need for Speed Payback ensuring at least a bit of novelty.

Robert’s Pick: With titles like Mary Skelter: Nightmares and Moero Chronicles, there have been several notable dungeon crawls released this year. But 2013’s Demon Gaze was a step above its peers, with Kadokawa Games and Experience Inc finding a compelling balance between exploration, combat, and relationship building. This week’s release of Demon Gaze II puts players back in the labyrinthine depths of Asteria City for more dungeon skulking and socializing, while marking the series console debut.
