While this week sees the release of a number of niche titles like Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 and BlazBlue ClonePhantasma, undoubtedly a pair of digital juggernauts are poised to overshadow all competitors. Traditionally, the annual release of EA’s football franchise dominates the sales charts, and with Madden 15’s integration of NFL Films-like cinematography, this year’s entry should perform well. Although developer 4A Games only has two games under their belt, that won’t stop the Ukrainian studio from having a trio of titles on this week’s roster. Next-gen consoles and PCs receive a rebuilt version of both Metro: 2033 and Metro: Last Light, as well as a fifty dollar package which bundles the two, tense first-person shooters.

Robert’s Pick: The original Hyperdimension Neptunia was a game I wanted to love, but really could only appreciate in concept, due to its incessant need for level grinding and unpolished delivery. Mercifully, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 does much more than just port the title onto Sony’s powerhouse portable. While the allegorical and fan-service elements remain untouched, Rebirth repairs the cadence of the original game, as well as giving the game an extensive aesthetic overhaul. This week, otaku might want to give Nep-Nep and the girls a second chance- Idea Factory, Compile Heart, (along with Felistella) have certainly earned it.
Gonçalo’s Pick: To this day I believe the Hyperdimension Neptunia series has one of the most original and meta concepts in modern gaming. The idea of creating a universe and characters based on videogame consoles sounds like something only forum trolling fanboy would think of. The fact it even exists is nothing short of fascinating to me. With all this said, this week sees a re-release of the classic Konami shmup, Lifeforce, also known as Salamander. Featuring both horizontally and vertically scrolling stages as well as a two player-mode, this title made quite a splash back in late 80s. Moreover, many of its features carried over into the Gradius series. Now if only Konami would bring the MSX Salamander titles to current generation consoles.

I wonder if Metro Re-dux is worth a re-buy. Did they really give the game an overhaul or just a few minor visual improvements?
I’m supposed to get a 50% Steam discount for already having the games, but they still want $25 for both games. What happened to the days of improvement patches being free. Hell, I’ll even give the devs a few dollars for their work, but $25 is too expensive.

For a sec, I though Appointment With F.E.A.R. was a sequel to the horror/FPS.
Does Rebirth have a 1 after the title? Did they split the game into 2 parts?
I’ve heard some great things about Super Time Force. Glad its no longer a Xbone exclusive.

Do you know if Putter Golf is Minnya no Putter Golf or the old PS1 game? Ryan Clement’s The Drop on the PS Blog is pretty worthless and they don’t really answer any questions that take more than a minute to research.
Its the A1 PSone game. Yeah, Clements is lazy. The generic golf ball clipart, the lack of saying it’s a PS1 classic. They need to replace him.
