From a pair of Flashback collections with anthologies as old as your author (ancient!), a sequel to 2015’s Yo-Kai Watch, and premium-priced Wii U shovelware, this week’s schedule of new game releases has a bit of everything on offer.

Robert’s Pick: Late November’s Yo-Kai Watch offered both a solid interpretation of many of the elements that had made Pokémon so endurably popular, while still carving out its feel by having a mythos rooted in Japanese folklore. This week I plan on picking up the sequel, reuniting with Whisper, before heading out on an expedition to find and befriend 450 yokai (up from the original game’s collection of 250). If you missed this original, fear not, Yo-Kai Watch 2 makes a great starting point, eliminating much of the gating that made its predecessor a bit too leisurely.

  1. But Yo-Kai Watch totally isn’t Pokemon. there are 3 on 3 fights!

  2. I think I own no less than 4 versions of Atari Flashback. 3 I probably played for 15 minutes.

  3. Ninja Usagimaru review, please.

  4. Gotta catch all those Yokai!!!

  5. If only Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 was a few dollars cheaper!

  6. You should add a note saying that Quest of Dungeons is cross-buy with the Wii U and 3DS.

  7. Thinking about new releases: do you think PS VR wil be successful? It’s coming in a few weeks, but I really haven’t heard too much about it lately.

  8. Yokai Watch 2 review please.

  9. Watching Ne no Kami: The Two Princess Knights of Kyoto this week. If the reviews are solid and the price is right I might buy it.
