New Game Releases: August 3rd-9th, 2017

Once again, the Nintendo Switch gets the lion’s share of new games releases for dedicated hardware, with quantity only outmatched the sheer number of Steam releases. But console owners wouldn’t be too sad, with tempting title like Graceful Explosion Machine, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and the Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 hitting retail and digital marketplaces.

Robert’s Pick: Ok, confession time. I bought Graceful Explosion Machine for the Nintendo Switch while still buzzed from a new console high. And while Disgaea 5 Complete still holds the record for total hours of play, GEM isn’t lagging too far behind- which is pretty impressive for an arcade-like title. So, if you are a fan of Defender-esque games, you’ll probably want to pick this up on the Switch, PS4, or PC. Like any respectable shooter the action is intense, keeping score-chasers busy for hours. Now, if developer VertexPop had let the dash harm enemies, they’d have an instant classic. But down let that little niggle stop you from enjoying this great game.

  2. I heard Slime-san is one of those fun, really hard platformers. Thinking about getting that.

  3. I’m curious about LawBreakers because of the $30 price. I wish it free to play, though.

  4. I’d like to see Graceful Explosion Machine come in at under $10 for PC.

  5. No loli this week. 🙁

  6. Seems like that new console tax has been applied to Retro City Rampage.

  7. Lots for Switch but nothing really good.

  8. Does this mean a Hellblade review this week?
