New Game Releases: August 10th-16th, 2017

With appearances by Mai Shiranui, Sonic the Hedgehog, and the 423 different types of panties found in Gun*Gal, this week’s schedule of new releases is looking rather promising. If pugnaciousness, platforming, or pheromone shooting, isn’t your thing, the next seven days are poised to offer a variety of other efforts, from Volition’s open-world, Saints Row spin-off, Agents of Mayhem to the fourth entry in the World War II-era, real-time strategy series, Sudden Strike 4.

Robert’s Pick: Sure, picking up a Sonic title in the twenty-first first century is a Casino Zone-sized gamble. For every Sonic Generations, there are a handful of Warehogs and Sonic Booms that are almost bad enough to make you swear off the Blue Blur altogether, retreating to the safety of Mario’s more consistent platforming efforts. Purportedly, this week’s release of Sonic Mania is a return to form for the ‘hog, with two-dimensional stages that feel culled from the franchise’s golden era.

About Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. The best thing about Troll and I is that is doesn’t even require a console. Anyone with a browser can play.

  2. I might give Sonic Mania a go depending on reviews.

  3. Gun*Gal VR seems like a good idea, but they need to offer a loyalty discount for previous owners!

  4. I always liked The King of Fighters 2000. Might pick it up for Switch. Don’t know about having to carry a controller around for digital input.

  5. Isn’t StarCraft: Remastered coming out this week?

  6. So little buzz for Agents of Mayhem. I have a feeling the title will drop in price quick.
