New Game Releases April 25th-May 1st, 2014

The Amazing Spiderman 2

From Child of Light, Ubisoft’s attractive title which combines platforming and role-playing elements to Zen Studio’s quartet of Star Wars-themed pinball tables, this week’s rooster of new releases extends a number of intriguing retail and digital titles. The one game that players won’t be able to find on store shelves (a digital version was released) is the Xbox One version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which mysteriously disappeared from retailer listings. Clearly, Green Goblin, Electro, or Rhino must have had a hand in the villainous impasse.

Robert’s Pick: Back in 1999, I purchased JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure for the Dreamcast with no knowledge of its source material. Yet, as a fan of the Capcom’s 90s-era fighters like Street Fighter Alpha and Darkstalkers, I had to give the game its day in court based on its rogue’s gallery of unusual character types. Needless to say, the game was good enough to instigate a reading of Hirohiko Araki’s long-running manga.  This week JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle unites forty characters culled from eight story arcs, melding the multitude into a rousing competition. With development duties handled by CyberConnect2 (Asura’s Wrath, the Naruto Shippuden series), this could very well be a requisite title for fighting game fanatics.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle
Gonçalo’s Pick:
Created during the golden age of the shmup, the Raiden series is one of the longest running franchises in genre. When Raiden Fighter Aces and Raiden IV were announced for the Xbox 360 I was eagerly awaiting for the PAL releases that unfortunately never came. Now, Raiden IV: Overkill is coming to PSN, it will be available worldwide and even has a few extras not found in the original release.

  1. I’ve heard so many different story about why Spider-man isn’t coming to the Xbone. My favorite is that its because it’s a Sony film.

  2. I always like Capcom’s CPS-2 games more than the 5 or 6 CPS-3 ones. That said I have a wait and see approach planned for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: ASB.

  3. What was the lead platform for The Amazing Spider-man 2? Has anyone tried to contact Beenox?

  4. Child of Light for me this week.

  5. I was looking forward to Raiden IV: Overkill until I heard it was jump a bare-bones port with just one new mode.

  6. Glad to see Cooking Mama is still around. I miss her.

  7. The new Stars Wars pinball pack has 4 tables? I had to confirm this and thought it was a mistake. Very cool!

  8. Child of Light looks really cool. I might have to break into the PSN funds.

  9. Why dont the Steam games have prices? You should fix that.

  10. The May Free PS+ games are missing.

  11. Nintendo is selling Stick It to the Man the same week Sony is giving it free to PS+ subscribers? What are they thinking?

  12. So MS doesn’t get Spider-man 2, but they do find all those copies of ET? Seems as if their priorities are out of whack. Instead of demonstrating that XBox is about the games but offering great original games, they pump ten of thousands of dollars into something that’s hardly vital to gaming.

  13. I kind of looked to Chris Kohler because he seems like a hardcore collector. But seeing him roped in by MS makes me question all those anti-Nintendo articles he wrote as of late.

  14. Are you sure the Child of Light Deluxe Edition is coming to the US? I’ve heard just in Europe.

  16. I’ll be picking up Bust-a-Move 4 on Tuesday. Love those dinos!

  17. Waiting for your Jojo Review. don’t let me down, Deagle.

  18. When did Rambo show up? It wasnt there last weekend.

    Im sure it sucks, though.
