New Game Releases: October 12th-18th, 2017

With horror titles like Friday the 13th: The Game, The Evil Within 2, and White Noise 2 making their way to retail channels and digital distribution services, it’s evident that Halloween is just weeks away. Fortunately, for those opposed to frights, there are a number of scare-free titles arriving across the next seven days, from Gran Turismo Sport, Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth and even South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

Robert’s Pick: Many people know that I’m a hardcore Disgaea fan; there’s something about the gradual growth of statistics that quells that cravings of my inner math-nerd. Less known is my adoration for the Etrian Odyssey series. While the dungeon-crawling and turn-based battles in the series have always been competent, the gratification found in cartography is absolutely sublime. This week, I expect Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth will take my back to halcyon days in elementary school when I’d spend hours envisaging dungeons on graph paper.

Sure, I’m not thrilled by the inclusion of DLC to fast-track experience, currency, or allow players to listen to the FM-synthesized soundtrack. But these contraventions aren’t severe enough to keep me from experiencing Myth’s new mini-events or the augmented class system.

About Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. So what’s the verdict Gran Turismo Sport or Forza 7?

    • Until the Xbox One X is released and Forza 7 is shown in its full glory, we can’t say with certainty right now.

  2. What about right now with GT: Sport and Forza 7 running on regular PS4 and Xbox One.

  3. WWE 2K18 is coming to Xbox One and PC

  4. Anyone know if Friday the 13th has any single player content?

  5. South Park for me, but only in 3-6 months when he price drops.

  6. Jason L. Voorhees

Wonder if White Noise is based on the film (that was pretty forgettable)

  7. Etrian Odyssey V for me. The big issue is I hear its just one big dungeon.

  8. I usually avoid the non-mainline GT games, but Gran Turismo Sport is looking tempting.
