New Game Releases: January 25th-31st, 2018

With new iterations in the Dissidia and Monster Hunter franchises, as well as Arc System’s take on Dragon Ball, the last week of January almost makes up for the slow trickle of new titles that dominated most of the winter month. Beyond these heavy hitters, a number of retro classics are on the schedule, with Psikyo’s well-liked STG Zero Gunner 2 and ADK/SNK’s World Heroes 2 arriving on the Switch this week.

Robert’s Pick: DBZ fans are poised to go Super Saiyan with the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ. With tag team mechanics and Arc System Works proficiency with fighters, that excitement is completely justified. But, more personally, I’m really curious about Monster Hunter: World. While the franchise has been a irrefutable phenomenon in the East, Western games have been tepid toward the series. With World, Capcom is aiming to change that, offering a wealth of tutorials, a softened learning curve, and purportedly, a push toward open-world gameplay. The only problem is the absence of a PC iteration this week, with Capcom promising the game in late 2018.

  1. I want DB FighterZ for PC, but I don’t really feel like playing full price right now.

  2. Earth Wars looks JUST like Earth’s Dawn, a $30 Steam and PS4 game.

  3. I just want to know if Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is going to have loot boxes, passes, or any of that other shit that has ruined gaming?
