Introducing Tidegear

Tech-Gaming would like to ask our readers to give a warm and
cordial welcome to your newest writer, Tidegear. He has previously written for
gamerzreviewz.com as well as his own personal blog. While finishing his degree
in journalism, Tidegear is also busy working on his own indie game, which he
promises will be both ‘unique’ and ‘fun’. As an expert in both the indie and
emulation realms, Tidegear will be offering a distinctive voice in his upcoming
posts and reviews.

When not developing, studying, or writing, Tidegear enjoys
both the Metal Gear and Metroid series of games, as well as any extremely unique title. We’ll be seeking his expertise on import games, as he has a passing familiarity with Japanese. So please make Tidegear feel at home, and ask him any videogame related questions.

  1. Welcome Tidegear, and congratulations. First question- what does your name (TG) mean?

  2. Congratulations you lucky uh, guy. Keep the great news and reviews coming!

  3. How did you get the job? And when can I start! I want to go to E3 with Desert and the guys!

  4. Tell us more about the game your working on? XBLA? PC?

  5. I’d also like to know more about the game your working on!

  6. How’s writing for tech-gaming? Is deserteagle as mean as as name sounds?

  7. Whats the hardest game you’ve ever finished?

  8. Hi Tidegear- Welcome to the site.

  9. that’s an interesting name. you a diver?

  10. Do you like Ninjas or Samurai more?

  11. Salutations, Tide!

  12. Tidegear,

do you really smoke a pipe when you write, like the illustration indicates?

  13. If you could have ever game and every system ever made, but you had to sleep with a man, would you do it?

BTW, if youre female, change to sleep with a female and post pics.

  14. If DesertEagle offers to show you around L.A. via Santa Monica Blvd. & catch a flick at the TomKat theater politely decline.

You’ll thank me for this bit of advice later.

  15. Welcome Tidegear.

  16. Best of luck, tide!

  17. Thanks! TideGear is a sort of play on Metal Gear. I picked the prefix “Tide” for various reasons, one reason being that I thought it sounded like an aquatic Metal Gear. Years after I picked the name, MGS2 was released which featured Metal Gear Ray which has aquatic capabilities. I guess I’m somewhat psychic!

  18. Yes, I’m a guy and thank you!

  19. I obtained the position with a combination of stealthy ninja-like infiltration, h4xx0ring and psychological trickery. Robert actually thinks I’m a giant talking rabbit named Harvey that no one else can see.

    …I almost feel bad.

Seriously, I just contacted Robert with samples of my past gaming-related writing!

  20. Without giving away too much… It’s a retro-styled (think SNES) PC action/puzzle game that’s a combination of several unique gameplay concepts. It will also contain a somewhat bizarre and complex sci-fi storyline.

Overall, I’m very proud of it and I hope to share more in time.

One last hint… bomb defusing. (And, that’s still telling you very little.)

  21. Thanks for the interest! See above.

  22. ::trembles and looks over shoulder:: Um… He’s very… um…

Actually, he’s very nice. I felt comfortable talking to him very quickly.

  23. Probably either Ninja Gaiden Black or R-Type Final! I hope to best those, though. I love hard games as long as they’re fair.

  24. No, but I’ve been snorkeling once and I’ve had a fascination with deep sea exploration and submarines since I was a child. That actually is another reason behind the name TideGear.

  25. Easy, ninjas!

  26. Well, change that pipe to a giant cup of Dr. Pepper and it’s fairly accurate. I am skinny and shaggy… but much younger.

  27. Thankfully, emulation renders this question near moot.

    …And, no.

  28. I’ll just go ahead and thank you now! Thanks! I’ll do y’all the favor of not asking why.

  29. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

  30. TideGear (Adam Milecki)

P.S. I’ll start going by both my username and real name so as not to confuse people.

  31. I’m only mean to unlickedcub; and anyone else I’ve known for over two decades!

  32. Hey, great introduction. Great start there!

  33. Hello Adam aka Tidegear. And who is Robert?

  34. TideGear (Adam Milecki)

Does that mean I should mark a calendar for 20 years from now with a note saying “Stop talking to DesertEagle!”?

  35. TideGear (Adam Milecki)

Unless I’m mistaken, Robert is aka DesertEagle.

  36. Welcome! greetings and salutations.

  37. Welcome Tidegear. We hope you wow us as much as DesertEagle.

  38. Welcome, man!

  41. TideGear (Adam Milecki)
